dance education

at Litchfield
Dance Arts
Academy (LDAA)
in the coastal
resort of
Pawleys Island,
SC.
Serious dance
students are
invited to keep
in shape while
enjoying a
beach-based
family vacation.
You can choose
from two tracks:

Daily
two-hour
masters
class,
Monday
through
Friday for
two weeks,
10 a.m.
until noon.
Cost:
$375 per
student

Day-long
training
that
includes two
hours of
ballet,
lunch
discussion
break,
90-minute
variation/pointe
instruction,
and
90-minute
modern/jazz
instruction.
Monday
through
Friday for
two weeks,
10 a.m.
until 4 p.m.
(Bring your
own snacks
and lunch.)

Intensive
Instructors
Rachel Ayers
– Rachel Ayers
was born and
raised in
Martinsville,
VA, where she began her dance
training in
ballet, tap, and
jazz. She later
attended Virginia School
of the Arts,
where she
studied modern,
pilates,
partnering, and
musical theater
styles. Rachel
performed in
Chicago
with Gus
Giordano Jazz
Dance Chicago
and Winifred
Haun and
Dancers. She has
danced for
Legends in
Concert,
Celebrity Cruise
Lines, L’Opera
de Montreal, Les
Follies de
Paris, and
DanseSing at
Caesar’s Atlantic City. Rachel also is a vocalist and
musician, having
performed with
The Noise
Machine, Blue
Sky Thunder, and
Illuzion.
Ilka Doubek
– LDAA Artistic
Director,
choreographer
and teacher,
Ilka Doubek was
born in Omaha, NE.
She has worked
professionally
in ballet and
modern dance
since 1973.
During her
career, she
collaborated
with renowned
choreographers,
theater, and
opera directors
internationally.
Prior to
founding
Litchfield
Dance Arts
Academy in South
Carolina,
Ilka was a
member of the
Omaha Ballet,
the San Diego
Ballet,
Frankfurt (Germany)
Ballet, and the
Hamburg
(Germany) Ballet.
She has been a
guest solo
dancer and
choreographer in
many of Europe’s performing arts festivals and major opera houses,
where her dance
career
flourished.
Ilka’s
choreography
portfolio
includes
ballets, modern
dances, opera
dances, and
movement. She
continues to
serve as a guest
master teacher
and
choreographer
for ballet and
modern dance
with
professional
companies,
schools, and
universities
around the
world. Ilka
holds teaching
certifications
from the Royal
Academy of Dance
and Dance
Masters of
America (Modern
and Ballet).
Orlando
Molina
– Orlando Molina
was born in
Guane, Pinar del
Rio-Cuba. At age
10, he began
ballet training
at the Vocational School of Art
where he studied
for five years.
In 1987, he was
accepted into
the National Ballet
School in Habana; he then received his
diploma from the
Cuban
School of Ballet. After
serving in the
Cuban military,
Orlando
joined the
Ballet Clasico
de la Habana. At
age 24, he was
selected to be
Ballet Master of
the I.N.C.
Ballet Company
and restaged
numerous ballets
including Don
Quixote,
Coppelia, Diana
and Acteon, Le
Fille Mal Gardee,
La Sylphide, and
Pas de Quatre.
Orlando
has also been a
member of Ballet
Municipal de
Lima and
Cleveland San
Jose Ballet. He
currently is a
member of the
Orlando Ballet
under the
director of
Fernando
Bujones.
Orlando
has coached a
number of
award-winning
dancers and
choreographed
numerous
internationally-recognized
pieces during
his career. He
is a regular
guest instructor
at
Litchfield
Dance Arts
Academy.
Marion Tonner
– Marion Tonner
was born and
raised in
England
and received her
professional
ballet training
on scholarship
at the Royal
Academy of
Dance. She
graduated with
honors and
became a
credentialed
associate and
licensed teacher
of the
Royal Academy as well as a two-time gold medalist at the
All-England
Dance Festival
at the
Collegiate
Theatre in London. Marion’s
career has taken
her throughout
Europe and Great Britain. She now resides in
the
United States,
having served as
principal dancer
and ballet
mistress with
the Maryland
Ballet,
performed with
the Philadelphia
Grand Opera and
American Dance
Artists, and
collaborated on
a repertoire for
Camargo Ballet.
For 20 years, Marion has taught for university dance
programs, dance
teacher
organizations,
regional dance
companies, and
professional
dance schools.
She has held
faculty
positions in
Philadelphia,
Massachusetts, and Florida. She currently is full-time Dance
Specialist at
Hillcrest School in
Lake
Wales, FL, where she
instructs more
than 550
students a year.
