Our fully-accredited, professional faculty provides the solid foundation for our school. Instructors have international performance and teaching experience in a wide range of dance styles and techniques. LDAA also regularly seeks out other talented professionals to visit the school as guest instructors.




Ilka Doubek - LDAA Artistic Director, choreographer and teacher, Ilka Doubek was born in Omaha, NE. She has worked professionally in ballet and modern dance since 1973. During her career, she collaborated with renowned choreographers, theater and opera directors internationally. Prior to founding Litchfield Dance Arts Academy in South Carolina, Ilka was a member of the Omaha Ballet, the San Diego Ballet, Frankfurt (Germany) Ballet, and the Hamburg (Germany) Ballet. She has been a guest solo dancer and choreographer in many of Europe’s performing arts festivals and major opera houses, where her dance career flourished. Ilka’s choreography portfolio includes ballets, modern dances, opera dances, and movement. She continues to serve as a guest master teacher and choreographer for ballet and modern dance with professional companies, schools, and universities around the world. Ilka holds teaching certifications from the Royal Academy of Dance and Dance Masters of America (Modern and Ballet).




Jenny Durham Jenny Durham was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, where she received her training in tap, jazz, and ballet. She has taught all of these styles to children of all ages and proficiency levels. Through her career, Jenny has traveled extensively during her performance career which includes line captain of the Siegfried and Roy Show in Las Vegas. She also worked as line captain and company manager for the Myrtle Beach “Legends in Concert” show. Jenny’s choreography has won numerous awards regionally and nationally. At LDAA, she teaches jazz, tap, lyrical, and musical theatre styles.

 


Mandy Siefers

Mandy Siefers Mandy Siefers is a native of SC and earned a bachelor’s degree in dance technique from Columbia College in Charleston. Mandy’s professional performance career has taken her to Branson, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. She appeared on the NBC special “World’s Greatest Magic” and danced in the Myrtle Beach “Legends in Concert” show. Mandy has served as a competition judge for NC-based Marvonna Productions and has judged competitions across the Carolinas. At LDAA, Mandy teaches funk, jazz, and tumbling; she also organizes hip hop parties and gives private lessons for solo jazz choreography.

 


Megan Herlong Megan Herlong is a former LDAA student who teaches tap, jazz, and lyrical dance styles. She also is trained in many styles of ballroom dance. Megan has created many regional and national award-winning choreographic numbers for LDAA—most recently for Petite, Junior, and Teen Miss Dance of South Carolina 2007 and Junior Miss Dance of America 2007.

 


Leo Lubarsky

Leo Lubarsky Leo Lubarsky, born in Odessa, Russia, was selected at age 11 to study dance at Leningrad’s Kirow Ballet School. While there, he also studied pantomime, acting, and all other types of performing arts. In addition to studying under Pushkin and Sergeyev, he was a classmate of Mikhail Baryshinikov. After his schooling, he performed with Russia’s Perm Ballet Company and the Odessa Ballet Company before returning to the Kirov Ballet as one of its principal dancers. In the United States, Leo served as Acting Artistic Director for the Lubbock Civic Ballet and made guest appearances with companies across the country.

 


Rachel Ayers

Rachel Ayers Rachel Ayers was born and raised in Martinsville, VA, where she began her dance training in ballet, tap, and jazz. She later attended Virginia School of the Arts, where she studied modern, pilates, partnering, and musical theater styles. Rachel performed in Chicago with Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and Winifred Haun and Dancers. She has danced for Legends in Concert, Celebrity Cruise Lines, L’Opera de Montreal, Les Follies de Paris, and DanseSing at Caesar’s Atlantic City. Rachel is also a vocalist and musician, having performed with The Noise Machine, Blue Sky Thunder, and Illuzion.

 


Teaching Assistants  

At LDAA, our teaching assistant program supports the smooth operation of our school while giving our talented students an opportunity to expand their skills.

To be eligible for the teaching assistant program, students must be enrolled at the Grade 4 RAD level or higher and enrolled in at least three hours of dance per week. Scholarship students are asked to be teaching assistants as part of their award. Teaching assistants can earn credits to help pay their class tuition.
